Amanda Tran

Hello! I'm Amanda, the founder and editor in chief of Bruin Bites Food Magazine, UCLA's first food publication! I'm a third year from San Diego, CA studying Neuroscience and Philosophy. Bruin Bites first started as a small food account (@bruin._.bites 😉) that I started with my friends during dinner at Epic on the hill. As my account grew, I met a great number of other foodies in and around LA, so I thought of starting an organization on campus that would bring all food enthusiasts together and create projects that can create unique stories through food. I'm an avid baker so when I'm not busy making a mess in the kitchen, you'll find me exploring LA to find the prettiest and tastiest sweets, and coffee-shop/cafe hopping :)

Hi, my name is Joanne, the co-director of the Writing Committee this year! I’m a senior majoring in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, trying new food places, and making song playlists. I’m a big coffee lover so I also like visiting cafes and making my own / trying out new coffee recipes. I believe food is the best way to connect with people on a deeper level, and I hope to help people bond over the foods they love.

Hi! I’m Leila, the managing editor of Bruin Bites this year. I am a junior majoring in Global Studies and minoring in professional writing. I enjoy hosting dinner parties, baking, hiking, horseback riding, and building modular Lego sets! I love to eat out and explore new restaurants in any city I’m in! If you ever need good recommendations for LA, I’ve got you covered, I promise. Food is a super important part of how I connect with people and learn more about different cultures, and I continue to explore this through Bruin Bites!

My name is Alice and I’m the co-director of Layout Design for Bruin Bites. As a second year Cognitive Science major, I’m interested in pursuing UI/UX design and research. I love korean food such as tteokbokki and soondubu-jjigae. I’m always excited to try new foods from all over the world! In my freetime, I enjoy thrifting, painting, going on nature walks, and baking.

Hello! My name is Ashley Ko, and I’m a 4th year Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology major. I’m the Managing Art/Photo Editor! I’ve always enjoyed art and food, which is why I joined Bruin Bites. My favorite food changes a lot but probably any Korean/Chinese food. I’m pre-med and interested in both academic medicine and primary care. I would also love to become a Michelin star critic one day.

Hi! My name is Emily Roshan and I am one of the Directors of Finances for Bruin Bites this year. I am a third year student from San Diego and I am majoring in Business Economics. I enjoy baking, traveling, going to the beach for sunset, and spending time with my friends and family. My favorite dessert to make is apple pie! I also love matcha lattes and trying new restaurants in LA :)

Hi! I'm Carrie, the co-director of Layout Design for Bruin Bites this year. I am a sophomore from Hong Kong, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Food Studies. I enjoy baking, gardening, dancing, doing art/photography, and napping (a lot). I'm a big coffee, matcha, and boba enthusiast, so you can find me exploring new cafes around town in my free time. My dream is to start my own bakery/cafe/florist shop one day!
